GLAMADVENTURE PEACH OVERSIZED1

Would you published on the blog photos that are not perfect? And by the word “perfect” I don’t mean any of the technical characteristics of photography (light, background and so on …). I mean me specifically what I am wearing. You know what I mean. We would like to present our best selves on the blog, right?  I think this outfit is a classic mistake that curvy ladies, like me, are doing quite often – trying to hide themselves in a large baggy clothes.

A slovom “perfektné” nemyslím, nič z ich technických vlastností fotografie (svetlo, pozadie a podobne…). Tým myslím mňa, konkrétne to čo mám oblečené.

Let’s face it – baggy clothes cannot hide that we are overweight. The only thing they do is that we will look worse and feel worse. Therefore, I try to avoid such clothes. But ….. I saw at the store this “oversized” shirt. And the temptation was too great:

  • oversized (yay, it will be comfortable, great for hiding in)
  • cotton (comfortable on the skin, especially important as we are 137 km from the equator)
  • peach (isn’t it lovely color? not to mention the fact that in Chinese culture this color means immortality. But it probably was not the main reason for the purchase. 😀 )

A pokušenie bolo príliš veľké:

  • oversized (jéééééj, to bude pohodlné, krásne sa v tom schovám)
  • bavlna (príjemné na pokožku, zvlášť v dôležité keďže sme 137 km od rovníka)
  • broskyňová farba (No nie je to rozkošná farba? A to nehovorím o tom, že v čínskej kultúre táto farba znamená nesmrteľnosť. Ale to asi nebol hlavný dôvod nákupu. 😀  )

Later, when I started wearing it and especially now, when I saw the pictures, I realized that the shirt:

  • it has baggy unflattering shape (I didn’t hide extra kilos, I achieved the exact opposite)
  • it should be longer (if it is longer, it would be possible to achieve the hourglass shape by using a belt. With this length and cut it does not work. I tried.

Skúšala som to.

Thus is how the impulsive purchases could turn out sometimes. I will definitely wear this shirt for our active family weekends, but next time I’ll stay in a changing room a little bit longer.

GLAMADVENTURE PEACH OVERSIZED7

Sometimes to hiding yourself looks like the only option for curvy ladies. But it is not a good way. There are so many possibilities to compliment our curves.

  • Tina von tinaspinkfriday

Anna you are so right. It works not good for us, a tent style.

    • http://glamadventure.com/ Anna Shirley

I’m definitely against a tent style. It’s not flattering to anyone. Thank you to stopping by Tina. o)

  • Jodie Filogomo

We all make styling “mistakes”, but I think the best thing is to learn from them and not beat ourselves up about them. I see this has buttons down the front—does it look any better open and then maybe belted??

I tried the belt ,Jodie, but the cut is quite strange, so it didn’t work. Maybe open will work much more better. Thank you to stopping by Jodie. o)

I think almost all my blog posts are mistakes. :) What usually happens to me, is I think something looks great in the mirror, then I take photos, and I don’t like it. I think, “I should have worn a different top with that jacket” or “That doesn’t look good on me”. I always publish my photo shoots, only one time in three years I did not. I learn a lot from them.

    • http://glamadventure.com/ Anna Shirley

I know what you mean Amy. When you see these pictures, you can get pretty good ideas how whole outfit could work much better. So, we learning this way. o)

You’ve offered some great insights regarding sizing and fit. Loose and baggy is not always the best way to make the most of our figures. And wow, how awesome that my post received the most clicks! Thank you for the shout out and for hosting the link up.

I often make this choice, and regret when I see the photos! I realised baggy clothes do make me look bigger so I try to find clothes that are more fitted to my figure. It can prove quite difficult at times. I also now learnt what suits MY body and buy/wear accordingly. Nice to link up with you. Jacqui
