Are you ready to be your own boss? If your answer is YES, then you already made the first step on this path. I can tell you that it will not be easy. I’m not saying this to dishearten you. I’m saying this to prepare you for what is next. I’m from a family where a few people decided to be their own boss. I saw a few ideas come to life as viable businesses. I’m on that path myself now. I’m transferring from having a job to creating my own business.
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.Walt Disney
Courage is a must at the beginning of this journey. But you will need much more than that. Before you deliver the resignation to your boss (I know you want to do that), you have to figure out a few things:
Can you leave your 9-5 job right now? Maybe you need to stay at your job for a few more months and make an exit smooth for you. It would be best if you put a time clock on your exit. Otherwise, you’ll never leave, because things never will be 100 %.
It would be best if you had a financial reserve for the beginning. You need spare money for at least six months, ideally for one year as the business will not bring you money right away. This money will cover your expenses while you will working hard on your business. You need to find out how to finance your business, too – if it will be from your savings or you’ll need a loan.
A thoughtfully created business plan will help you to understand the whole business process, financing, your goals, and minimize your risks.
If you are ready to be your own boss:
Congratulations! You are a brave person, and you are standing at the beginning of an exciting path. This path will be not straight all the time, there will be ups, and there will be downs, but it is worth it. You can gain your freedom. There are a lot of things to learn at the beginning. These books might give you more ideas and prepare you for the next step.
