I can’t believe I’m writing my last post in the year 2019. It seemed like yesterday when I was writing the first one. This post is special for the other reason too. I was invited by Jeannie of A POCKETFUL OF POLKA DOTS to be a guest blogger for THE FAB 40’s.

The Fab 40’s is a group of five stylish fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month they choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger also in their forties to join us. This group’s goal is to take on style trends and show how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With six widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after 40.

This post theme is POLKA DOTS. How great theme. I love this pattern. It is so beautiful, feminine, and playful. It is in fashion for such a long time. Sometimes it is more prominent than others, but it never disappears from the style. For this theme, I decided to balance the “sweetness” of the polka dot with some “hard” elements – black faux leather jacket, black thighs, and black suede boots. Here is the look I created.

Jennie did something similar to me. She balanced the delicate polka dot pattern with masculine elements – polka dot is on the tuxedo jacket, and she is wearing the trousers. I think that the polka dots on the tights were a nice touch to this elegant festive look.

Shelbee chose a different approach – she paid homage to the beauty of the pattern and created a fantastic head-to-toe polka dot look with a subtle pop of color. You can find this design on the skirt, blouse, coat, even a scarf, and all play together in the beautiful harmony.

Daenel put together the two most iconic American fashion staples – polka dots and denim and created the cute look with “a girl next door” vibes. This is something right up my alley. I can wear this right now.

Details: Earrings – Nickel and Suede, Denim Jacket and Dress – Old Navy, Pendant Necklace – Walmart, Sweater Tights – Target, Clogs – MIA

Dee surprised me with her creativity, which she used to make this outfit. She repurposed the polka dots pajama pants and robe for outdoor clothing, and she created with a few accessories this elegant chic minimalistic look.

Suzy combined two of my favorite patterns – polka dots and stripes. She created a colorful, playful look with the vintage vibes I like so much. The polka dot handbag was just cherry on the top. A fair warning – I might copy this look soon. o)

Polka dot handbag, necklace & ring: gifts from mother-in-law!

Sheila incorporated the polka dot blouse effortlessly into the look without compromising on her amazing street style. And these booties! They are singing to me (pun intended). They took me immediately to the Gwen Stefani’s music video for the song “Don’t speak” where she was wearing – surprise, surprise – polka dot dress.

And here is my look.
